Complementing a New Patio with Layered Planting

This planting-focused garden enhancement in Southwater, Horsham, was designed to complement newly built patio areas with a layered, clay-tolerant scheme that brings seasonal interest and textural depth. The client wanted bold colour, Mediterranean warmth, and year-round structure without a full garden redesign.

To provide structure and a sense of gentle enclosure, we designed an alternative to the traditional fence line using a combination of pleached trees and mixed hedging. This approach softens boundaries while creating definition between zones — a technique that works beautifully in gardens of all sizes.
