Tangmere sits on the flat coastal plain between the Downs and the sea. It is good growing country, with a few challenges of its own.
Many homes around Tangmere are new, with a thin layer of turf over compacted soil and a bare fence. We fix the ground first and give the garden structure, privacy and shade from day one.
The coastal plain is flat and exposed, and wind crosses it with little to stop it. Hedging, trees and screens planned in the right places make a garden far more comfortable to sit in.
Deep, fertile loam grows almost anything, which makes it easy to overplant. A clear planting plan keeps the garden balanced as it fills out.
